Two Killed in Head-On Truck Crash Along Route 202
Two people were killed Monday in a head-on collision near Horsham Road in Montgomery County. Montgomery Township police said a Toyota RAV4 and a Peterbilt car-hauler loaded with four vehicles were involved. Upon impact, a third vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was thrown from the truck’s upper deck but was not involved in the accident nor struck other nearby vehicles.
Police said the Toyota was heading southbound on Route 202 when the driver veered over the yellow line into oncoming traffic, striking the truck head-on in the northbound lane.
The Toyota driver, a 50-year-old King of Prussia woman, was ejected, and a passenger, an 86-year-old Ambler woman, was extracted by Montgomery Township firefighters. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, a 44-year-old Levittown man, was taken to Grand View Hospital with only minor injuries.
The Parkway between Horsham and County Line roads was closed Monday afternoon while police continued investigating the scene and clearing the area. The road was reopened later that evening.
